Miss World Malaysia 2008 Finalist-Photos

Posted by benny at June 24, 2008 6:18 am

So now what? Called up Miss World Malaysia 2008 PR Executive to get some information about the finalist for Miss World Malaysia 2008. 3 contestants will represent sabah for the Miss World Malaysia 2008, they are Ms. Devenna Jaikon, Ms. Joanne Kimberly Majalap and Ms. Rounnah beb.

My first questioned when i got the news was? Why Audrey Ambrose was not in the list? She got Number three for Miss World Sabah Malaysia 2008 Right? Huh, My favorite contestant didn’t make it? What is the reason? Huh.. :(….Why?. Since i don’t like to wonder i called up Ms. Audrey to get confirmation why and why? and at the same called Mr. Jason (PR Executive for Miss World Malaysia 2008) to get the details.

Well, As per my understanding, Jason told me the minimum age to enter for Miss World Malaysia 2008 is 18 at least by end of this december 2008. So again, my questioned was, How come Audrey Ambrose not in the list? her birthday is on november 2008, So by right she should be in the list? i really don’t why.. I think it would be more better if we can get 4 of them to be in the list right? What say you ?hmm..

Anyway, This year the theme is “Kill Beauty,Save the children” I don’t really get the whole meaning of this theme lols! sorry for my retard english and bad bad bad understanding to this language huhuh :(.

30 finalist will be in,However, they will need the malaysian to go to the website to vote out which contestant they don’t like so that they can be eliminated. Only 20 finalist will compete for the grand final which will be held on 25 of July 2009 which is fall on friday (How i wish it falls on…on….public holiday hehehe, so that i can fly to KL to take some photos!)

To all my lovely readers from sabah! the sabahan! orang kita! tokou! time to do some work…choose which contestants you want to vote out from the list! Can we have these 3 gurls to be on the list?

Oh ya, Anyone remember our 2007 undukngadau winner for Klang valley? Ms. Jaslinder kaur? She is in the list too! so check out the photos of the contestant below.

Latest Update From Mr. Jason:

Basically, we offered the Sabah State Organising Committee a 2 + 1 entry into Miss World Malaysia. Meaning, only the Top 2 candidates autamitically qualify for the Miss World Malaysia pageant. Which means the winner and 2nd
place are the only ones who qualifies (Daveena & Joanne) automatically. The third entry (the + 1) from Sabah was based on votes / recommendation by the Sabah Organising Committee. So basically third place don’t qualify, only
the one recommended will seal the final spot to Miss World Malaysia (could be any of the remaining finalist in Miss Sabah).

Question To ask Before Deciding your Wedding Photographer

Posted by benny at June 17, 2008 7:37 am

i only want to share this…to my lovely readers..and perhaps my fellow photographers eg, Friscod,Wendell, vivalova and 2lips and some others members who are into photography. But specifically this post are meant for the couple who want to get married and wanted to decide which photographer they need to engaged hehe..

1. Can I read through the contract?
The contract should at the very least describe in detail what you are getting (prints, albums, slideshows, CDs of files, hours of time, etc.), when you can expect to get it, how much it costs, when your payments are due, and what fees are refundable or not. If there are any terms in the contract you don’t understand, don’t be afraid to ask! When problems arise between clients and photographers it is often due to misunderstandings or assumptions regarding the contract terms.

2. Can I see some sample albums of complete weddings?
Every photographer should be able to show you some samples of complete weddings they have shot. If they only show you a couple of highlights from selected weddings, or if every picture they show you is a bride and groom portrait, you won’t have a very clear idea of how your pictures will turn out. All photographers should be able to show pictures of a complete wedding day, start to finish, and include pictures of people getting ready, the ceremony itself, the formal group pictures and portraits, and the reception. If they can show you a few examples, you’ll quickly get a feel for their style.

3. How much experience do you have?
Wedding photographers have to be able to adapt to every situation during a wedding, and they have to react instantly and with confidence because there is oftentimes no second chance. Surprise situations happen all the time at weddings, such as a bride’s reaction to seeing a long lost cousin, or the groom spontaneously picking up his bride and swinging her around. An experienced photographer is more likely to catch these moments because they are used to anticipating key moments and they know their equipment inside and out so they won’t be caught fumbling for camera settings. Also, the variety of photographic challenges at a wedding is enormous. Some venues are dark, some are lit with fluorescent lights, some have mottled shade, some outdoor weddings have constantly changing light. Perhaps there are uncomfortable situations between family members, or the florist is late and throws off the whole schedule. An experienced photographer should be able to tell you how many weddings they have shot and describe some difficult situations they have overcome. The better photographers tend to cost more precisely because of that experience and their work should reflect it.

4. How much direction or posing do you do during the day?
This question speaks to style and how you will interact with your photographer during the day. Some photographers take a strict photojournalistic approach, and don’t do any interaction or intervention during the day except for perhaps some casual posing suggestions during the formal group portrait session. Other photographers will want to take a more hands-on approach and prompt you to twirl, dip, kiss, throw your veil over the groom’s head, etc. and guide you through a number of poses. They may also take control at certain parts of the day and tell you to move into better light, or coach you on how to stand for the cake-cutting. It all depends on what you want, so before meeting with your photographer, decide on how much time and control you want to give your photographer. Typically, photographers are comfortable operating in a certain way, so be sure to have them describe how they operate and see if that works for you.

P/s Please don’t ask me those question :P hahaha…kidding kidding..i think this question is…some sort of…reasonable and logic…:) just another great information i think…

Posted by benny at March 27, 2008 9:03 am

I bought my first Camera bag last year which is around RM80.00 (if i still remember haha) then last week i finally decided to buy a new bag for my DSLR. To be honest this bag is too expensive to me and have to think thrice just to decide whether i should buy this bag or not.

The listing price was RM599.00 huh can you imagine buying a bag for that price? (But i got it cheaper than that la :P not less than Rm420.00) unless i am a women i might go and buy prada, perahu, guess, and others well known brand ahaha…u get what i meant ka? the reason i bought this bag was because my current can fit more than 2 lens and can’t even fit my Canon Flash too with some other accessories that is crucial for me to bring during my photography job.

300awside.jpg

If you can see from the photo above this bag provide big space for my camera equipment, say like i need to travel for any job i guess i will be able to fit in 6 Lens, Flash Diffuser, Battery charge, Camera Body, Camera Flash and some minor accessories.

I guess it worth the money…what do u think? but i guess there is some of our sabahan fellow photographer invest much expensive bag than me. Huhuhu…well they are professional anyway (not like me…Amateur)

How to avoid noise in your photos?

Posted by benny at March 4, 2008 2:46 am

Can we really avoid noise in our digital photos? Yup this what had popped in my mind just now. Was browsing all photos of Miss Malaysia Universe 2008 and as expected some photos comes with an ugly noise. While this is so disturbing i google the net to see if we can really avoid noise in our photos. So below is what i found.

If you want to avoid noise the first thing to do is use a camera equipped with a sensor having a high native sensitivity (typically, a DSLR with a large sensor and large photo sites), and use a low ISO setting. This keeps amplification at a minimum.

You can also use noise reduction, if your camera supports it. With this feature the camera first makes the intended exposure, followed by another exposure of the same length, but with the shutter closed. The second image contains only the noise that occurs at the current temperature with the current sensor. The data of the second image is then subtracted from the first image, resulting in an image with strongly reduced noise (noise is not zero; because of the random nature of noise, the second image is not 100% identical with the noise of the first image). This noise reduction technique is called “dark frame subtraction”, and many cameras offer it for longer exposures.

You can also use software to suppress noise that still ends up in the image. But suppressing noise instead of avoiding it in the first place, and at the same time not losing image detail is a tricky task. You need sophisticated software and know how to use it well.

Other than this, there is not much the photographer can do.

For sensor makers, there are a few things more that can be done. Thermal noise can be avoided by cooling down the sensor. However, this is not practicable for photo cameras, but only for sensors attached to telescopes etc. But camera makers can at least avoid heating up the sensor too much.

Sensor makers can also increase native sensitivity, on one hand by making photo sites large, and on the other hand by increasing quantum efficiency, i.e. increasing the fraction of photons actually causing a charge increase. But quantum efficiency is already high, around 70%. So even if quantum efficiency is increased to 100% (which is unlikely), sensitivity can at most increase by 1/3. And photo sites tend to shrink instead of grow, because of the never-ending demand for higher pixel numbers.

Sensor makers can also improve their signal processing chain, making sure that noise introduced there is as small as possible. Moving towards CMOS sensors instead of CCD sensors is one way, because with CMOS sensors the processing electronics is closer to the individual photo sites.
